HSA-SOUTHERN BAY
ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
March 4, 2006
Bay Point Grill @ Bay Point Marina, Norfolk, VA
Attendees: Bill Buckley, Clark Cundiff, Bob Cunningham, Pete DeWolf, Michael & Gail Gulla, Buck Harrison & Jeanne Conner, Ellsworth and Brenda Johnson, Deborah Kirkland & Ron McLeod, Bob MacDonald, Ron & Nina McCoy, Curt & Carol Morris, Wayne & Millie Morris, Steve Nelson, Skip Newman & Gail Kellogg, Jonathan Romero.
The meeting was called to order at 2PM by Wayne Morris of s/v Irish Fever, who thanked everyone for attending.
First note of business was to decide on the name of our sailing association, HSA-SOUTHERN BAY, which was unanimously chosen because it sounds “warmer”.
Second, the purpose of the club was discussed and was decided to sail and cruise together with other Hunter owners, to share knowledge, experiences and camaraderie, educational activities, to increase our expertise of sailing, boat maintenance, weather etc.
Wayne spoke of Hunter Sailing Association One (www.hsa1.org) out of Annapolis, Maryland and thanked them for their guidance, encouragement and support, to begin our own organization of HSA-Southern Bay. All present were encouraged to take a look at their web site.
Several ideas for a burgee were shown to the attendees.
Third, volunteers were invited to consent to hold the offices of the organization, which are as follows;
Commodore: Wayne Morris
Vice Commodore: Bob Cunningham
Fleet Captains: Buck Harrison & Bob Cunningham
Secretaries: Millie Morris & Brenda Johnson
Treasurer: Deborah Kirkland
Membership Chair: Deborah Kirkland
Newsletter: Jonathan Romero

Fourth, discussion was held as to the amount of dues to be determined. It was agreed that dues will be $25.00 the first year, with discussion of changes at a later date if necessary.
Activities for the next 3 months were decided:
April 8- Business meeting at Bay Point Grill 2 PM
May 6/7 – Raft up in Willoughby Bay, Norfolk
June 9/10/11 – Harborfest Raft up at Hospital Point, Portsmouth
There be no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned, and social hour began.
